Thank you for your interest in placing a wholesale or custom order with us. All Medalta Pottery is made in-house by our skilled production team. The clay is mined in the same region as the historic Medalta mines and the production process utilizes the original plaster molds left behind after the factory closed its doors. The Medalta factory opened in 1912 and was one of Western Canada’s most important factories of the time.
All Medalta pottery is made using the same old technology and machines as over 100 years ago. Items are hand jigged on a jigger machine, while others are made with liquid clay (slip casting). The wares are then hand trimmed, coloured, stamped, and placed in the kiln for the first firing (wares are fired in large batches). Next, they are glazed, cleaned, and placed back into the kiln for the final firing. If a custom decal is applied, this will require a third firing. Wares may take up to 8 weeks to produce from start to finish. This timeline is dependent on other orders that our Production team is currently fulfilling.
Decals are like stickers for ceramics. We can print your logo or a small image on special ink and paper to create a custom decal. Decals are permanently fired onto the ware in a kiln. Please upload files for decals as high resolution jpg, jpeg, or png’s. Decals will be printed in black and white.
The minimum wholesale order is 20 of one item type. Any orders of less than 20 per item type will be charged at the retail price.
Wholesale Orders: A deposit of 10% of your total order is due before production commences.
Custom Orders: A deposit of 50% of your total order is due before production commences.
